The Lake County Stonewall Democratic Club was formed in November, 2007, by a small group of like-minded citizens, both gay and straight. Not only does the Club passionately encourage and welcome all ideas that promote positive advancement of gay and lesbian acceptance in all realms of society, it politically promotes fellow Democrats running for office, both locally and nationally. Since its inception, the Lake County Stonewall Democratic Club has been involved in the Adopt-A-Highway Program; contributed to Senator Mike Thompson and Assemblyman Wes Chesbro’s campaigns; participated as the first openly gay/lesbian group to march in the Clearlake 4th of July parade; supported the Gay/Straight Alliance group at Lakeport High School; and promoted the opening of the Youth Center in Lakeport. We are looking forward to participating in the upcoming Lake County Fair, the 1st Lake County AIDS walk, and annual Democratic BBQ. During this year of big decisions with regards to Proposition 8, as well as electing a new president, the Lake County Stonewall Democratic Club needs your help. While we have steadily grown in membership, it is well known that there is power in numbers. An increase in membership is vital to the survival of the Lake County Stonewall Democratic Club in order for it to progress forward with new ideas. Membership is extremely affordable at only $10.00 per year and the only requirement for becoming a member is that you are a registered Democrat in the State of California. Our meetings are held on the 4th Monday of each month at Redbud Library located in Clearlake. A potluck dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. We encourage all gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people and their friends and families to bring a dish to pass and attend our meetings. Social interaction is a big part of the Lake County Stonewall Democratic Club, but we are also very focused on political awareness especially regarding LGBT issues, community involvement and activism. All membership fees and/or donations may be made in person at our meetings or sent to the address below. We encourage you to get involved at this critical time in our history. Open your minds, your hearts and your wallets and join us in the fight for equality, a language everyone speaks and no one should be denied.
